Reading:   This week our genre is expository text.  Exposity text gives information about a topic and can include text features such as headings, diagrams, labels, captions, etc.  We will be reading selections about magnets and gravity.  We will also be determining the author’s purpose of the selections we read (to inform or to entertain).  Our high-frequency sight words are:

great               idea                 often

part                 second           two

world

           

Please hang this letter in a handy spot so you can help your child practice reading the words from it a couple of times each day.

Reminders:

Please make sure your child has shoes in his/her backpack every day.  You may want to have your child leave an extra pair in his/her locker.

Now that we have some snow, please make sure your child has a second pair of mittens and socks in his/her backpack.  This way your child can change into a dry pair if needed.
