Reading:   This week our genre is expository text. This type of genre gives information about a topic and includes text features such as captions, bold print, and subheadings. Reading:   This week our genre is fiction.  As we read our stories, we will be looking for the character, setting, problem, and ending in our stories.  We will also be discussing the sequence of the plot –beginning, middle, end.  We will also be determining the author’s purpose of the selections we read (to inform or to entertain).  As you read with your child at home, please take a few minutes to discuss these aspects of a story.  Our high-frequency sight words:

Reminders:
Please make sure your child has shoes in his/her backpack every day.  You may want to have your child leave an extra pair in his/her locker.

Now that we have some snow, please make sure your child has a second pair of mittens and socks in his/her backpack.  This way your child can change into a dry pair if needed.
