Second Grade News
February 10-14
Here is a peek at what will be happening this week:
Monday, Feb 10: Collection envelopes are due if your child
raised money for the American Heart Association.
Monday, February
10 is Library Day: We visit the
library on Monday. Please make sure all
books are returned so that more may be checked out.
Thursday, February
13: Jump Rope for Heart
Day! We will be jumping in the high
school gym from 9:00-10:30. Make sure
your child wears tennis shoes and comfortable clothes for jumping. Please send a water bottle (with water only)
labeled with your child’s name. We are
encouraging the students to make this day all about hearts, so have your child
wear a previous Jump Rope for Heart shirt, a red or pink shirt, a decorated
shirt, or some other red or pink clothing item.
Thursday, February
13 is our Valentine’s Day Party:
We will be having our class Valentine Party at 1:00 in the
afternoon on Thursday, February 13. For
our party, I would like each child to bring in a Valentine for every member of
our classroom. The Valentines may be
purchased or homemade. I would like your
child to address and sign all the Valentines by himself/herself (with your
supervision). This can be a big job, so
you might want your child to start early and do a few each night. This is the list of the children in our
classroom:
Kaden Anthony Ryan Trey Savanna Trenton Makenzie Avril
Avery Brecken Cole Alaina Hailey Zackery Tanner
Tyler Emerson Blayn Jesse Madalyn Ruby
Karsyn Kassie Chevy
Tessa 10 Tessa
26
(We have two students with the name of Tessa, and
their last names also begin with the same letter. As I am not allowed to publish last names, we
use their mailbox numbers to keep their papers going to the right person. The students in my room know this system, so
please put the mailbox numbers on the Valentines for these two children. This way all
Valentines will be sorted and given to the right person.)
100’s Day: We will be celebrating the 100th
day of school on Wednesday, February 19.
As part of the celebration I would like each student to bring in a
collection of 100 items to put on display for other classrooms. Try to make the collection from items you
have around the house. Possible ideas
would be 100 marbles, rubber bands, hair ribbons, cotton balls, pennies,
hearts, tiny toys, baseball cards, etc. Just help your child use his/her imagination
and have fun putting together this collection.
We also celebrate with a class trail mix. Please have your child bring in one cup of an
item to add to this mix. Thanks so much!
