Second Grade News

September 22-26

Reminder:   We return to the library on Monday, September 22.  Please make sure your child has returned all of his/her books so that more may be checked out.

Reading:  We will be reading realistic fiction about families around the world.  As we read we will be looking for information as to how families around the world are the same and different.

High-Frequency Words:  The following are words we will be practicing.  By the end of the week your child should be able to read these words quickly by sight.  Please put this letter in a handy spot and have your child practice reading the words off this letter a couple of times each day.

Math:  We are learning how to use a number line and a 100 number grid to count on from a given number by 5’s and 10’s.  We are also reviewing addition, subtraction, and counting coin combinations.

Parents,

  We have had a warm and wonderful start to the school year.  I am enjoying getting to know the children in my classroom.  Here are just a few reminders:

            *Pictures will be taken on Tuesday, September 9.

*We will have Physical Education (gym) on every Tuesday and Wednesday.  Please make sure your child wears tennis shoes on these days.

*Please send a note if ever your child is to ride a different bus at the end of the day.
