Reminders:   If your child decides to collect money for Jump Rope for Heart, please make sure it is turned in to school no later than Monday, February 11.

Our comprehension skill is summarizing.  A summary of a story tells in a few sentences what the story is about.  A summary includes the important ideas such as character, setting, problem, and important events at the beginning, middle, and end of the story.  As you read with your child at home, please ask him/her to give you a summary of the story.

Reminders:   Monday is a delayed start for the students.  School will begin at 10:00 am.  We return to the Library on Monday.  Please make sure all books are returned so that more may be checked out.  Have a great weekend!

Math Test:  We will be having a math test next Thursday.  Please look for the study guide which will be sent home by next Wednesday.  The best way you can help your child be ready for the test is to check over his/her math homework every night and practice any items with which your child might be having difficulty.

PTO Theme Baskets:  The PTO is having a theme basket fundraiser.  The theme for our basket is snacks.  If you are able to donate any items, please send your donations to school by Friday, January 18.  Also, please continue to save box tops.  These are also a great source of funds for our school. 

Reminder:   School will dismiss at 1:45 on Thursday and Friday.

Our comprehension skill is character.  We will learn that authors tell us what story characters are like by what a character says, feels, and does.

PTO Theme Baskets:  The PTO is having a theme basket fundraiser.  The theme for our basket is snacks.  Attached you will find a letter explaining what we need for our basket.  Please send donations to school by Friday, January 18. 

Shoes:  Now that boot season is here, please make sure your child has shoes with him/her every day.  You may want to have your child keep an extra pair of old shoes in his/her locker.  Also, please take a few minutes to review how to tie shoes with your child.  This will help everyh one be ready and in the classroom on time in the morning and after our recesses.

Library:  We return to the library on Monday.  Please make sure all books are returned so that more may be checked out.

Reminder:  Please make sure your child has appropriate clothing for outside recess: warm jacket, snowpants, boots, hat, and gloves.  I would also recommend that you send an extra pair of mitttens and socks for your child to keep in his/her backpack.  Then your child will have dry feet and hands for every recess.  Thanks.
