January 13-17

Here is a peek at what we will be working on:

Reading:  These are our new vocabulary words.  Please put this list in a handy spot and have your child practice reading through the words a couple of times each day.

Our comprehension skill is summarizing.  When we summarize, we tell about the most important parts of a story in just a few short sentences.  We tell about the character, setting, problem, important events, and the solution to the problem or the ending.  As you read with your child please take a few minutes to help your child summarize the story. 

Spelling:   We will have our test on Monday as this week was too short with the snow days.

Math:  Please help your child do his/her homelink every night.  I am seeing wonderful progress in the students who do this on a daily basis.  Your help does make a big difference.

Library:  We return to the library on Monday.  Please make sure all books are returned so that more may be checked out.

Early Dismissal:  School will dismiss at 1:45 on Thursday, January 16 and on Friday, January 17.
