Second Grade News
September 10-14
Reading:
Our reading vocabulary words for this week are: live, made, people, taste, your, empty,
popcorn, wobbly, pretzels, nowhere, sick, tears, outside, grapefruit, hundred,
knocked, and longer. This week we will
learn to read these words and learn their meaning. A good way to help your child practice is to
put this list in a handy spot and have your child practice reading through the
words a couple of times each day.
Our
comprehension skill is character. As we
read, we will be looking at the main characters in our stories and learning what
the character is like by the things the character does, thinks, and says.
Spelling:
Your child’s spelling list is stapled to this letter. We practice these words every day in
school. Please take a couple of minutes
each night to help your child practice at home, too. We will have a spelling test on Friday.
Picture day is Tuesday, October
11.
Reminder:
If you send lunch money to school with your child, it must be in an
envelope labeled with your child’s name and grade. All money is sent to the office, and loose
coins and bills can get lost or mixed in with someone else’s money. So, for the safety of your child’s money,
please make sure it is in an envelope.
Have a great
week!
